The 2015 Annual Chili Cook-off is our upcoming annual event set to be held February 28th in the Tehachapi High School Cafeteria on Dennison Road in Tehachapi, CA.
Through the FIRST Robotics Team 585, about 40 high school students participate in the FIRST Robotics competition in which students design, build and operate a large, wheeled robot for a competitive/cooperative international challenge. The annual Chili Cook-off, Robot Unveiling and Silent Auction is the team's main fundraiser to pay for team travel and robot materials.
Enter a pot of chili to win top bragging rights and a gift basket, or just enjoy an all-you-can-eat chili lunch for only $5 (advance purchase and online, $7 at the door).
At the event, the team will unveil the robot they will compete with at Seattle and Las Vegas regional championship tournaments. You'll be among the first to see this year's robot and encourage the students in their work.
A silent auction will run throughout the event allowing you to bid on silent auction items donated by local individuals and businesses. These items offer good value and all funds from ticket sales and silent auction items go directly to the team. Auction items typically include sports and theme park tickets, novelty t-shirts, Tehachapi and Bakersfield-area restaurant gift certificates, space and technology memorabilia, art, wine tastings, antiques, pet supplies and more.
Chili Cook-off tickets can be purchased from a Tehachapi High Team 585 team member in advance, online (at Fla.vor.us) or at the door. To enter a chili in the cook-off or to donate silent auction items, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
